It was friday and just 10 O clock.
I walked into Thai cafe the other day. Was getting bored and wanted a change of scene ,some good music, meet a few old friends and acquaintainces etc. As expected there was loud music, the place was crowded and people were having a ball of time. I walk to my favourite corner - The bar and wrap myself around a stool with my beer. I looked around
There was no shout with a big Hi, no holler for me, no tap on the shoulder, no hand waving for me....cant anyone see me? Turned around for familiar faces. There was a sea of faces but not a familiar one.
I could feel what Rip Van winkle must have gone through. A whole generation of friends and acquaintainces and not a single one here on FRIDAY. Where were the people i knew?
Have i grown old.......Have we all grown Old...where have all the old men gone??????
Or have we matured and found a new place to migrate and leave this to the new generation ...a niche of the new generation which still likes our generation music.
That brought me to rcollect the crowd i witnessed the other day in the pub....it was either younsters -who had just started their careers or 40 plus crowd..who were happily guzzling away and eyeing the dancing crowd.
what do people who have travelled a few years into corporate life do....are they burnt out, have they been domesticated, has parentage and work presure made them into a new person altogether. Has my tribe stopped socialising or has socialising taken a different form for us...
Has drinking with close friends in confines of homes the thing for us or a serene dinner drinks and movie the thing for us.
Has our lot become soooooo domesticated.
sounds so boring and scary.
